Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?

A short walk away from Milford Green and the train station, right down the lane to the right of Frosty Twist.

What kinds of books do you carry?

All kinds! We’re a little-bitty bookstore that carries a little bitty bit of everything: fiction, nonfiction, fantasy, cookbooks, YA, and of course, lots and lots of books for all the little fish who visit us. If we don’t have a book you’re looking for, we’ll order it for you.

Do you sell used books?

We adore used books (all books! any book!) — but right now we aren’t selling them. We do, however, feature a small, curated collection of discounted titles. These titles are marked and stickered and you can find them sprinkled throughout the store. While we’re not accepting used book donations at this time, we may in the future and will let you know if/when we do.

I’m a self-published author and/or artist. Will you sell my work?

Let’s talk. While the store is not big enough to carry every title and every work by every author or artist, we do sell works on consignment on a case-by-case basis. Email us at info@mermaidbooksct.com to learn about our consignment program.

Will you host book clubs?

You’d better believe it! We’re looking forward to facilitating book clubs, as well as offering book discounts and use of our space, after hours, to book clubs in our area.

When will you offer events and classes?

We opened in June and are still getting acclimated — but we hope to be up and running with events and workshops by the fall. We’ll post our calendar here, as well as on Instagram and Facebook, so make sure you’re following us!

Are you hiring?

Not at this time! But that may change seasonally. If you’re an experienced bookseller looking for a gig, we’d love to hear from you. Email your resume to info@mermaidbooksct.com.

How else can I support Mermaid Books?

Easy! You can join our mailing list below, and you can shop with us online! Purchase books and e-books via our profile at Bookshop.org, which we’ve linked to above.

We’ve also partnered with Libro.fm, an audiobook retailer with a wide variety of titles, so if audiobooks are more your speed, check out our page here.
